KJELLBJORN STRAIGHT-NEEDLE MITTENS

Needles: 3.75mm straight needles, though similar size needles should be fine too

Yarn: DK or worsted weight, though any weight yarn could be used

Other materials needed: tapestry needle

Pattern:

MITTENS
Cast on 24 stitches
Knit 2, purl 2 to create ribbing around the wrist (6 cm)
Garter stitch (knit every row) the mitten (10 cm)
Rib (2 cm)
Cast off in rib

Sew together to form a tube, leaving space for the thumbs

THUMBS
Cast on 3 stitches
Knit one row
Kfb x 2, k1 (5 stitches)
Knit one row
K1, kfb x 2, k2 (7 stitches)
Knit one row
K2, kfb x 2, k3 (9 stitches)
Knit 10 rows
Kfb x 2, k6, kfb (12 stitches)
Rib for 3 cm

Sew the ribbed bit into a tube for the thumb, and sew the rest into the hole made whilst sewing the mitten together
