Tulpesh and Mae

About us

ABOUT MAE
Mae was born in 1983 in Lørenskog, Norway and moved to Birmingham, England in 2002 to study. Her favourite past times are reading, watching films, web design and drinking tea. Her Norwegian name is Marte, which means ‘pearl’.

ABOUT TULPESH
Tulpesh was born in 1983 (nine days after Mae!) in Leicester, England and moved to Birmingham to study. He enjoys reading, playing Xbox, hiking, camping and watching films.

HOW WE MET
We met during Freshers Week at Aston University, Birmingham on 30 September 2002. We were both attending the get-to-know-people pub crawl, which had a beach theme.

THE PROPOSAL
Mae had been at home with her family in Norway for three weeks, and returned to Oxford to receive many welcome back kisses! Tulpesh told Mae to close her eyes and cover her ears because he had a present for her. When she opened her eyes she saw a big bouquet of beautiful red roses! Tulpesh then gave her the beautiful engagement ring and asked the question, and of course Mae said yes!
